Chick Corea Concert In Budapest, 2 May
This will not be his first time in Budapest, but the arrival of a living music legend such as Chick Corea is always huge for the city. The famed Jazz musician will be performing in the Hungarian capital on May 2nd.

Corea has won 22 Grammy Awards over the course of his extremely productive career. He is a keyboardist, composer and a conductor, and with his 63 nominations Corea is the most Grammy-nominated artist in the history of the awards. He is familiar with many kinds of musical styles, and has composed music in the avant-garde, bebop, and jazz-rock genres, and has even written children’s songs.

Arguably, Corea has never been as fruitful as in the past decade. He plays on acoustic piano, synthesizer; he performs solo, and in many groups. He is so successful that he was nominated for the Artist of the Year award in the last decade. Born, Armando Corea, he was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts.

He is of southern Italian and Spanish descent. He grew up in a musical environment, and his father was a jazz trumpet player who led a Dixieland band in Boston in the 1930s and 1940s. Corea developed his piano skills by exploring music on his own, but became a professional musician in New York. In the last 1960s and 1970s he played in Miles Davis’ band, a stint that helped hone his skills and further his career.

Incidentally, for decades Corea has been an active member of the Church of Scientology, the controversial religion founded by science fiction writer L Ron Hubbard.

In the Budapest concert, Corea will be sharing the stage with two-time Grammy winner, Eddie Gomez. The third member of the trio is the well-known jazz musician Brian Blade. Blade is widely acknowledged in the jazz world as an important drummer and composer.
