Budapest To Host International Wagner Congress
Budapest is to host the International Wagner Congress from June 7 to 10, with around 300 delegates from 140 member societies in attendance, organisers told MTI on Tuesday. Participants are to view Richard Wagner’s Parsifal in Budapest’s Palace of Arts (Müpa) on Thursday, and Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle and Janos Vajda’s Mario and the Magician in the Opera on Friday. Eva Wagner-Pasquier, Wagner’s great-granddaughter, is expected to attend.

The International Richard Wagner Society, the Congress’ organiser, coordinates the work of Wagner societies worldwide and promotes the study and presentation of Wagner’s work.

The society awards 250 grants a year to young musicians, including four Hungarians, to study Wagner’s work in the Bayreuth Festival Theatre, the opera house designed by the musician to create optimal circumstances for his operas.
