Budapest Canoe Trip, Sunday 30 July
Have you noticed the wide water in the middle of the city? Have you ever wondered how can you get into a closer relationship with it? We provide an excellent opportunity for that! Come and join us for our unique Budapest canoe trip! Enjoy a nice summer afternoon on the water, and discover this hidden part of the city. A great escape for an active river break at a really short distance!

The riverbank at Rómaifürdő is situated within an easy reach from the city centre. This is where the tour starts from, following a brief safety instruction.

Heading north against the current, we will paddle up the minor fork of the Danube along Szentendre Island. Arriving to the small Island of Lupa, there will be a rest at the wonderful pebbly beaches of the area.

Turning around the island, the easy part will follow then down the river, when you can go with the flow! Having the trip finished, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy a relaxed evening in some of the open air bars at the riverbank.

Main sights:
Danube riverscape, distant Budapest cityscape, pebbly beaches and paddling fellows

Length of the trip:
ca. 14km (9 miles)

Level of physical difficulty:
Medium - There is definitely need for some efforts and physical fitness to move the canoe upstreams. Comfortably, this would take ca. 2.5-3 hours including breaks as necessary. The other way round will be easy fun then.

Paddling in a canoe is usually safe. However, rarely it may happen that the canoe capsizes. There will be drybags available to keep your valuables and spare clothes dry in such event.

Meeting time & place:
2.00 pm at Rómaifürdő station of the suburban railway (HÉV) No.5 starting from Batthyány tér. Detailed instructions on getting to the location and contact of the guide will be sent via e-mail. Let us know if you wish to come by car, and we will send a map and GPS coordinates.

Scheduled return
Arrival back to the starting point around 8 pm. There are regular suburban train and bus services connecting back to the city centre.

If the trip has to be cancelled due to the weather conditions, you can either choose an alternative date offered or get a full refund of the fee paid.

Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided.

In case of sunny weather, we recommend to bring swimming suits, sun cream and hat or cap. On cloudy, colder days get prepared with some warmer clothes.

Please bring some snacks and sufficient drink with you.

There will be no toilet facilities available until the end of the tour.

Not recommended for children under 7.
