Foreign Ministry Responds To Criticism By Israeli Ambassador Over Soros Billboard Campaign
Just like Israel, Hungary will take action against everyone who poses national security risks to the country and its citizens, the foreign ministry said on Saturday in response to Israeli Ambassador Yossi Amrani’s criticism of a Hungarian billboard campaign depicting US financier George Soros.

Soros wants to have the fence protecting the Hungarian border dismantled and to settle hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants in Europe and Hungary with the help of the NGOs he finances, the ministry said in a statement.

The illegal migrants “and their often anti-Semitic views” pose risks to Jewish communities in Europe and in Hungary, the statement added.

As a result, the Hungarian government will make every effort to fight against the “financial speculator” who is “a danger to Hungarian citizens” and against his organisations promoting illegal migration, the ministry said.

Amrani said on the Israeli Embassy’s Facebook page on Saturday that he calls on those involved in the current billboard campaign and those responsible for it to reconsider the consequences. “No gain can come from such a campaign recalling the historic lesson,” he said.

“At the moment beyond political criticism of a certain person, the campaign not only evokes sad memories but also sow hatred and fear,” he added.
