EC To Soon Decide On Hungary Food Labelling Law
The European Commission is soon to decide on Hungarian draft legislation that would require food companies to disclose on packaging discrepancies between identically branded products on various national markets, daily Magyar Idők said.

“We hope Brussels will support the Hungarian proposal to disclose quality discrepancies,” Róbert Zsigó, state secretary in charge of supermarket oversight, told the paper.

The farm ministry drafted the legislation after probes in Hungary and neighbouring countries showed discrepancies in the quality of identically branded food products sold in eastern and in western Europe.

Hungary submitted the draft legislation to Brussels in May.
