V4 Countries Support Protection Of EU External Borders
The Visegrad Group countries regard support for EU initiatives aimed at protecting its external borders as vitally important, the state secretary of the defence ministry told the press in Székesfehérvár, central Hungary.

Speaking after a two-day meeting of V4 deputy defence ministers, Tamás Vargha said that ensuring security and defence warrants a development of all four countries’ military forces.

The Visegrad Group countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary) will fulfil their NATO commitments until 2024 by raising their annual defence budgets while allocating 20% of these budgets to developments, he said.

Defence cooperation has strengthened the group, Vargha said. Joint work and protecting Europe, as they have done so far, will remain important objectives during the Hungarian presidency, he said.
