Gov’t Expands Clemency Period For Evictions
Parliament recently modified the law on evictions, expanding the winter ban on evictions of December to February to November 15 to April 30, president of the court-appointed receiver association György Schadl told Magyar Idõk.

Foreign-currency mortgage debtors could be helped if they received the right to “walk away”, he added. In practice, this would mean that after all the debtor’s assets were sold the remaining debt would be cancelled.

A person who is forced to walk away from his or her home should be entitled to have their debt burden lifted, said Schadl.
