Hungarian-Brazilian Economic Committee Adopts Plan To Boost Bilateral Ties
The Hungarian-Brazilian mixed economic committee held its 3rd session in Budapest on Friday to adopt a work plan on promoting bilateral economic ties.

Boosting bilateral economic relations has great prospects primarily because Brazil is one of the world’s most dynamically developing nations and Hungary is a member of the Visegrád Four grouping in central Europe, the economically fastest growing region of Europe, Levente Magyar, state secretary at Hungary’s foreign ministry, told a press conference after the session.

He noted that the two countries had established diplomatic relations 90 years ago. The work plan envisages more intensive cooperation between the two countries’ businesses and public sectors, he said.

Santiago Irazabal Mourao, the Brazilian foreign ministry’s undersecretary general, said there are 100,000 Hungarians living in Brazil which “provides a sound base” for strengthening and further expanding bilateral ties.

He identified excellent prospects in the areas of trade, tourism and culture. Mourao noted that Brazil would host a World Water Forum next March and that Hungarian President Janos Ader had already been invited to that event.
