Govt Spox: Democracy Is Not Dying In Hungary
“For Hungarians, it’s Hungary first”, government spokesman Zoltán Kovács said in a letter to the editor of The Washington Post on Monday, in response to an opinion blog published in the paper in early April criticising the state of democracy in Hungary.

Kovács cited the April 12 Wonkblog post “Democracy is dying in Hungary.

The rest of the world should worry,” and said voter turnout in Hungary’s April 8 elections reached 70.2 %, the highest it’s been since 2002 and more than eight points higher than it was in 2014.

“Democracy is alive and well in Hungary”, he added.
