Bikes Allowed Aboard Metro 4
Good news for cyclists in Budapest, they’ll be able to take their bikes on Metro line 4 from June 2018 onwards.

As you may know, Metro 4 connects Kelenföld and Keleti main train stations. In case that line suits you when out riding you can use a designated carriage for bikes at the back end of each metro train. Remember when taking a bicycle aboard you need to validate a single ticket for your bike.

At the moment, you can take bikes on HÉV suburban railways, certain Budapest trams (56, 56A, 59, 59A, 59B, 61 and 60 the cogwheel railway), a few buses (65, 65A and 165, trolley 77), plus on Danube boat lines D11, D12 and D14.

Metro 4 is the only underground line with a public lift available at every stop, so cyclists can use these to take their bikes down to the platform. As no other metro lines have public lifts at every stop, Metro 4 will be the only underground line cyclists can use since taking a bike on escalators is forbidden in Budapest.
