Competition Office Closes Procedure After Google Makes Commitments
Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) on Friday said it closed a procedure against Google after the company made commitments to inform users of its Allo chat client “in plain language and in a balanced manner” of how the application processes their data.

Google must also post an educational banner on its YouTube channel for one day in the fourth quarter of 2018 highlighting that it collects and handles consumers’ personal data and recommending that consumers review the privacy policies and settings.

“The rights of consumers to make undistorted business decisions may be violated even if data protection rights are properly observed, if consumers are not supplied with information which would be necessary to make wellestablished decisions (or not supplied timely with correct information, or supplied timely with misleading information, or the information is not clear enough),” GVH said in a statement explaining its decision.
