Fentanyl Seized At Budapest Airport
Customs officers seized a box containing a synthetic opiate, fentanyl, at Liszt Ferenc International Airport, the tax and customs authority (NAV) said.

Fentanyl was originally used in pain medication. Abuse of fentanyl is considered to be responsible for half of all opioid related overdoses in the US in 2016, some 20,000 cases.

As little as 2 milligrams can be lethal, NAV said. The customs authority seized the box, labelled as containing a fitness product, and filed charges of drug ownership, the statement said.
