11,000 Work Permits Issued Last Year In Hungary
The number of work permits granted to non-EU foreigners has nearly doubled in the past three years, it emerges from a written reply by state secretary for employment policy Sándor Bodó to Democratic Coalition MP Lajos Oláh.

Bodó affirmed that the cabinet does not intend to remedy the shortage of labour with guest workers and then wrote that the relevant authorities issued 6,303 work permits in 2016, 9,274 in 2017 and about 11,000 in 2018.

Statistics made public by the Immigration and Refugee Affairs Office show that the authority issued 69,848 residence permits in the first nine months of the year, 10,000 more than in the same period of 2017.

The largest number of foreign job takers arrived from neighbouring countries and mostly found jobs in the clerical and services sectors, the processing industry, the construction industry as well as the information and communication sectors.
