Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, in a radio interview on Friday, said freedom of speech was “in bad shape” in Western Europe. “In liberal societies, the institutions shaping public opinion – the media, universities, research institutions, foundations and politicians – have become homogenous, and say more or less the same thing.”
Ruling Fidesz has launched an “outdoor” campaign of putting out billboards and distributing leaflets in preparation for the upcoming European parliamentary and municipal elections, the communications director of the party said in a video on Facebook on Sunday.
Following the publication of the official results of the Russian presidential election, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent a letter to President Vladimir Putin to congratulate him on his recent re-election, the prime minister’s press chief said.
“We cannot accept that Brussels has abandoned Europeans, moreover, turned against them,” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a speech marking Hungary’s March 15 national holiday.
