Gov't Cuts Funding For Budapest Chain Bridge
The cabinet has reduced the funds earmarked for the renovation of the Chain Bridge and the Castle Tunnel from Ft 7 billion to Ft 6 billion, while ordering more tasks.

A proposed widening of the sidewalks on the bridge has been removed from the agenda, according to official gazette Magyar Közlöny.

Design and preparatory tasks related to Clark Ádám tér and Széchenyi István tér at either end of the bridge are included as new points, with pedestrian zones to be enlarged.

Széchenyi tér and nearby József Attila utca in Pest will be rebuilt so as to reduce car traffic and focus on pedestrian traffic.

The car park outside the Academy of Sciences will be abolished.
