Accidents & Arrests Up Over Long Holiday Weekend In Hungary
Police reported nearly 250 injuries in road accidents over the long holiday weekend. Ten people were killed in nine fatal traffic accidents, while 76 people sustained severe injuries and 162 others light injuries.

Police arrested 762 people over the long weekend, 104 of them on the basis of warrants for their arrest and 540 others for commission of crimes. Police detained 874 people, among them 409 on suspicion of committing criminal acts and a further 95 for drunk driving.

Between August 16 and 20, police and soldiers detained 63 undocumented immigrants and prevented 27 others from crossing into Hungary from Serbia.

A criminal proceeding was launched against one person for human trafficking, and against nine people for falsification of public documents, the police website reported.
