Technical Malfunction Causes Paks Reactor Trip
Hungary’s sole nuclear power plant at Paks reported a reactor trip on Thursday caused by a technical malfunction.

The malfunction caused an automatic shutdown of the plant’s number four block at 8:16 in the morning, operator MVM Paksi Atomerőmű said on its website.

The trip has no effect on nuclear safety and does not impact the operation of the plant’s other three blocks which are operating at 100% capacity, the operator added. Each of the plant’s four blocks has a nominal capacity of 500MW.

Paks accounts for about half of domestic electricity production.
