Budapest District Mayor Takes Parking Spaces From Russians
At the proposal of mayor Tamás Soproni, the Sixth District local council has returned 33 parking places to local residents, the local council said in a statement on Thursday.

The previous, Fidesz leadership of the district had reserved 24 of the spaces for the exclusive use of the Russian trade office.

The district council decided to terminate this situation and from now on anybody can park their car near the building at the corner of Bajza utca and Aradi utca.

Earlier Index reported that although Aradi utca, like other streets in the area, is generally full of parked cars, the last 40 metres are surprisingly empty on either side.

That area was given to the Russian embassy in May for its own cars.

The district has got nine other parking places on Aradi utca that had been reserved for staff of the National Bureau of Investigations, but the office has moved.

The changes will enter into force within days.
