Record Year-End Sales At Shops In Hungary
Retail sales could reach a record Ft 1.2 trillion in December, head of the Retailers Association György Vámos told state news channel M1.

Food sales could account for 40% of the December turnover, while Hungarians may have spent some Ft 100 billion on gifts alone, he added.

Consumer goods, books, toys, clothes and cosmetics were the best-selling items in this Christmas season.

Online stores outperformed targets in November, and the same can be said for brick and mortar shops in December.

Economic growth coupled with rising wages has spurred growth in retail sales, Vámos added.
