'Day Of Hungarian Culture', Heritage House, 22 January
From the organisers: On the day before the National Day of Hungarian Culture, on 21 January a photo exhibition is opening, where a selection of the memorable moments of the  Fölszállott a páva (Peacocks flying high) TV show can be seen, a dance performance of Tünde Rémi and János Appelshoffer takes place from 7 PM, and an exhibition entitled Unbroken Faith opens its gates on 22 January in the Museum of Applied Hungarian Folk Art, and shows the finest artifacts of the 75 years old furniture painter János Gaál.

The Thoughts in Dance and Poetry dance theater performance is the first stand alone full evening event with the renowned dancer-choreographer couple, namely with Tünde Rémi (EuróPAS Award, Harangozó Gyula Award, Hungarian Silver Cross of Merit) and János Appelshoffer (Lifetime Aranysarkantyús Award, Young Master of Folk Art Award, Harangozó Gyula Award).

The performance is based on the driad of dance, music and poetry, and it shows the most basic human feelings, like love, passion, pain, grief. They also show some emblematic events of the Hungarian histrory, highlighting provate tragedies.

On 22 January from 4 PM the opening ceremony of the jubilee exhibition of János Gaál furniture painter awaits its guests.

During his 33-year tenure at the Folk Art Museum, János Gaál tended to the restoration and often the salvage of the remaining artifacts of Hungarian culture.

In addition to the relics of the furniture collection and the religious collection of the museum, he restored the furniture of various catholic and protestant churches, the Pannonhalma Archabbey and the Rákóczi Castle in Sárospatak as well.

He conserved artifacts and made copies, and the objects close to his heart inspired him to create.

The favorite technique of János Gaál is decorative painting.
