Photo Review: Paris Budapest Lunch Special
Located near Chain bridge, Paris Budapest serves up fabulous food with a view to match.

Currently the flagship restaurant of the Sofitel is offering a great lunch deal, with two awesome courses for HUF 3400, or three for HUF 4100 - including water and a cup of tea or coffee.

Nowadays we're accustomed to chiefs playing with flavour combination to send our taste buds on a treasure hunt, sometimes with little reward, so am glad to report the Sofitel chefs have got this lunch time adventure right.

What I particularly love about this place is that it didn’t try too hard to impress, which in actual fact kept me pleasantly surprised as the courses were served. The dishes all use seasonal ingredients, are well considered, uncomplicated yet elegant, and each has a subtle tasty twist.

To begin we had the cold beetroot soup with apple and dill relish, which is a real winner especially given the current hot weather. Also we tried a poultry ragout soup with vegetables and horse radish, which was not overpowering and left you wanting more of this yummy starter.

Next we enjoyed the sea bass served with zucchini veloutee and fermented zucchini plus dried dates, it was perfectly cooked and tasted outstanding. Also for a main we had the grilled pork tenderloin, served with turnip, apricot, and lemon butter, which was inspired and totally delicious.

The portion sizes are well measured, and so we still had room for desert. The mixed fruit flan looked great and tasted even better, as did the coconut tart with white chocolate, which just said to me "Come on big boy, eat me, eat me now!"

With the ever-growing restaurant boom in Budapest, sometimes you may not know where to try next. Well as they say it’s about location, location, location, I’d agree with that, and in this case just add as well as food, food, food. All the boxes are ticked here, every day between 12 - 4 pm.

All in all this was a very satisfying three course lunch, with no food coma afterwards, and did I mention the amazing view to go with a good coffee afterwards.

This special menu changes each week, and so there's always a reason to return here for more great value five-star food with a fabulous view.
