Information On EU Exit For British Nationals In Hungary
At the end of January, the UK will leave the EU. Although the UK will begin a new kind of relationship with Europe, your rights as a UK national living in the EU are protected for life.

The Withdrawal Agreement guarantees your (and your family members) citizen rights in Hungary provided that you are legally resident here by the end of 2020.

The Withdrawal Agreement actually provides that all UK nationals in the EU, in your case: Hungary, can continue living their lives broadly as they do now.

In addition, the Withdrawal Agreements provides that there will be a transitional period until 31st December 2020.

During this period the UK and the EU will negotiate an agreement for a future relationship beyond the transitional period.

During this period, you will still be able to live, work and study in any other EU Member State.

So our advice to you remains the same as in previous updates: the most important thing is to ensure that you, your friends and family living here, are all correctly registered as resident before 31 December 2020.

For registration:
You can find more details on the website of the National Directorate General for Aliens Policing.

Please note that those already in possession of a Registration Certificate do not have to do anything more now.
