Forint Weakens to New Historical Low

The forint softened from 401.84 to the euro late Monday.
The forint weakened to 397.93 from 385.31 against the dollar, and dropped to 410.56 from 400.68 to the Swiss franc.

Hungarians had a total of Ft 1.7 trillion in foreign bank accounts at the end of 2023, equal to 12% of all retail bank deposits, according to data from the MNB.
Márton Nagy, the national economy minister, has said the government expects the economy to grow by2-3% this year.
Annual inflation in Hungary was 3.7% in February, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Month on month, prices rose by 0.7%.
The forint weakened at one point to 396.80 per euro yesterday, hitting a 12-month low not seen since March of last year.
