Green Light to “Put Hungarian Research Into an International Orbit” Given by Parliament
Parliament on Tuesday voted to give the green light to a new national innovation strategy dubbed the Neumann János Programme, aimed at facilitating links between universities, research institutes, and the economy.

The nine strategic measures included in the package were designed to reinforce a knowledge-based economy through further developing existing institutions and launching new programmes, the ministry of culture and innovation told MTI.

The ministry said the programme would “put Hungarian research into an international orbit” and help innovative ideas in foreign markets.

Innovative investments will focus on “healthy lifestyles, the green transition, digitalisation and security”, while researchers will benefit from predictable career models, the ministry said.

The programme will create scientific and innovation parks to facilitate cooperation between universities and businesses, and innovation support will be rolled out to communities in the Carpathian Basin, it added.

Under the new package, the Eötvös Loránd Research Network will be renamed Hungarian Research Network to ensure that the organisation is “easily and clearly recognised” in the international community, “contributing to enhancing Hungary’s popularity and prestige”, the ministry said.
