Digital ID Scheme to Start Next Summer in Hungary

A digital citizenship programme will begin between next July and September, so official identification, identity cards and the state will relocate to smartphone, Cabinet Office minister Antal Rogán announced.
He said it will be good to become a digital citizen because users of the system can verify their identity with their phone at any time.
Moreover, they can make payments to the state by pressing a button.
The minister expects fewer than one million users next year, rising to three to five million in 2025.
