Key Budapest Cemetery Declared 'Important Cultural Space' in Hungary - Digitised Map of Graveyard Now Available
The Fiumei út cemetery now has an interactive searchable map interface, on which anyone can access information about those buried there.

The National Heritage Institute has developed a map database that provides user-friendly access to data related to graves, deceased persons, and burial places protected by the National Cemetery.

The institute declared that the graveyard, as a national monument, is an important cultural space for the country, so it is important that the data is accessible to anyone.

The interface also provides an excellent opportunity for scientific work, the institute added.

Viewers can find their way around the plots by number on the map of the graveyard available on its website, but it is also possible to search by plot, and to find the resting places by name or gravesite number and the corresponding, legally publishable data.

A photograph of the given graves is also available on the map.

The database also indicates whether a grave is protected, in which case interested parties can get more information by clicking on the link under the name.
