Mercedes to Hire 3,000 New Personnel in Hungary
Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary will hire 3,000 workers in Kecskemét in order to fully utilise new production units, CEO Christian Wolff told Portfolio in an interview.

He said Mercedes starts with the assumption that it will be able to cover its needs with local labour in the future.

Two new buildings will be erected, one to houe the new assembly plant, and the other to serve as the bodywork unit.

Wolff said Mercedes-Benz is expanding its production area in Kecskemét because the production of new models with pure electric drive will start in the middle of the decade.

By the end of the decade, Mercedes-Benz wants to make its range of passenger cars fully electric wherever market conditions permit.

Mercedes announced in the summer that it would expand its assembly and bodywork units with new production lines worth Ft 400 billion, with state support of Ft 14 billion.

The company is launching a training programme in Kecskemét, for which the government is also providing financial aid.
