Gourmet Festival Budapest 2014

This yearly event is a must for those who love Hungarian gastronomy delights. The majority of Hungary’s top restaurants are there, from the gems of the countryside to the stars of the city. This year’s Gourmet special was “layered potato” (rakott krumpli), a well-known Hungarian dish.

The organizers’ aim is for everyone to sample something from the country’s best restaurants, all gathered in one location. Over the last three years, the Sziget Cultural Management has transformed the event and it is now considered one of the most prestigious events on the Hungarian gastronomy calendar.

The standard is high, which is reflected in the location’s fabulous setting. With so much to choose from, it is a pity that the festival is only on for a limited amount of days. It more than wets the appetite so if you can’t wait another year, then you can always pop along to one of the many restaurants that are on show at another other time.
