Interview:

Please tell us about your current assignment in Phuket?
I was recently appointed as the General Manager of Novotel Phuket Karon Beach Resort and Spa, a fabulous family friendly resort in Phuket. I really enjoy working in Phuket as there is always something happening all-year-round. On top of that, it’s a great destination with lots of activities for families, couples or friends travelling together. The island boasts of diverse cultural landmarks such as Big Buddha, an eclectic local and international dining scene, as well as many sport activities. Novotel Phuket Karon is ideally located steps away from Karon Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of the Island (according to the Locals), in proximity to beautiful traditional temples and close to the local heritage town in the vibrant district of Karon. If you want to experience the best Phuket has to offer, Novotel Phuket Karon is certainly a fantastic place to be!

When you first arrived, what surprised you most about Thailand?
The genuine attention and care from the Locals, their sincere smiles and passion to share their happiness. Discovering Thai Hospitality is certainly the most amazing and fascinating experience one would live here.

Friends are in Phuket for just a few days - what must they absolutely see and do?
Phuket offers an impressive dining scene. Discovering new local tastes and experiencing Phuket’s world class cuisine is a must! On another hand, I highly recommend visiting a local temple and taking part in a merit-making ceremony which will leave you with a relaxed peace of mind. A traditional Thai massage or Muay Thai lesson would also be another way get closer to Thai culture. Discovery is another must: Phuket is a beautiful island with a tropical forest and many islands worth a visit in the area all around.

What can’t you resist - tell us a guilty pleasure.
Let me tell you a secret… I love Thai food and…Chocolate! (I mean, who can resist chocolate?)
The Massaman Gai and Chocolate Lava cake prepared by our Chef Cyril are absolutely addictive.

What has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
I had the chance to work from Europe to South East Asia during my career. I should say that the true sense of Hospitality that I came across in places like Fiji or Thailand was a real life changing experience. It completely redefined my notion of “Hospitality”. Today, I constantly encourage my team to share the true local experience with our guests by just… well, being themselves!

What could you say is your personal motto?
All our dreams can come true–if we have the courage to pursue them.
