For a country which boasts centuries of wine tradition, Hungary does not have so much of a wine-bar culture. But I have identified five places in Budapest, which are very much fun to go and have a glass of Hungarian wine, writes Dr. Christian G.E. Schiller. Balaton Wine Festival In Budapest, 4-6 May

Thirty winemakers from the Lake Balaton area will be in the Hungarian Capital between the 4th and 6th of May. This, the fourth Balaton Region Wine Festival in Budapest, will offer 'Flavours of Balaton' including entertainment, excellent wines and delicious local food.

Hotel Sofitel Budapest hosted the annual DiningGuide.hu award ceremony on 19 January 2012. Onyx was voted Restaurant Of The Year 2011, Kistücsök in Balatonszemes was named the 'Countryside's Favourite Restaurant'; and Mák was the winner of 'Budapest's Favourite Restaurant' in 2011.

"Somlói Galuska (pronounced as: "SHOM-LO-I GAL-OOSH-KAH") is a popular and well known Hungarian dessert. It is made by layering chocolate and vanilla sponge cake with vanilla custard, raisins, walnuts, chocolate sauce, rum and a generous topping of whipped cream.
