A total of 4,002 refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine, 308 of them children, arrived in Budapest by train on Monday, Budapest police (BRFK) has said. The authorities have organised accommodation for 291 people including 66 children, BRFK said on police.hu on Tuesday.

Central European think-tank, Visegrad Insight, asked the question: ‘what would happen if Russia were to attack Ukraine?’. In a collection of reports, they look at the possible reactions of nine Central and Eastern European countries, including Hungary. According to the study, Hungary would not provide armed assistance to Ukraine, but Budapest would not veto any sanctions against Russia either.

Referring to the election campaign, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview with public broadcaster Kossuth Radio on Friday that “Hungary is going forward, not backwards”.
“In 2010, Hungary was bankrupt; it had been ruined and bled dry,” he said.
