The Hungarian edition of the latest book “World Order” by former US secretary of state and chief national security advisor Henry Kissinger was presented in Budapest. At the book release, Zsolt Németh, chairman of parliament’s foreign affairs committee, said Kissinger’s new work presents a practical political approach towards current developments in global affairs that pose new types of dilemmas.

Budapest will host the 5th congress of the European Association of Geographical Societies (EUGEO) between August 31 and September 2, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences said. Fully 602 delegates from 45 countries will gather to discuss climate change, demography, migration and urban development issues that will affect the continent’s future. EUGEO held its first congress in 2007 in Amsterdam.

The recent disturbing rise in the consumption of cheap and unregulated substances known as “designer drugs”, which have recetly resulted in several deaths across the country, could mean that Hungary is sitting on a ticking time bomb and the country is on the edge of a new type of public health crisis, journalist Csaba Lukács writes in the daily newspaper Magyar Nemzet.
