Queen Elizabeth`s new Ambassador to Hungary is His Excellency Mr Iain Lindsay OBE. He presented his Letters of Credence recently to HE Mr János Áder, and the President of Hungary accredited him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Hungary on Wednesday 30 March at the Sándor Palace.

The British and Dutch embassies will move to smaller premises to save costs. The Embassy of the Netherlands is moving to the Office Centre complex in Kapás Street housing the Swedish Embassy, the Dutch ambassador said. The move is in response to constraints due to the economic crisis over the past years, leading to staff reductions in foreign missions, Gajus Scheltema said.

Mr Iain Lindsay OBE has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Hungary in succession to Mr Jonathan Knott, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Lindsay will take up his appointment during January 2016. Mr Lindsay has been Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain since 2011.
