By BBJ: The Confucius Institute and the University of Szeged in southeastern Hungary, yesterday signed a declaration of intent to establish a China center, which would focus on education, innovation and foreign relations, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The Balassi Institute and its supporting institutions have important roles to play in shaping the image of Hungary abroad, the minister of foreign affairs and trade said on Tuesday. Navracsics told a meeting of directors from Hungarian institutions abroad that it was a new mission created a few years ago to present Hungary as an innovative, creative and open country.

Cultural ties are the solid core of relations between France and Hungary, Gergely Prőhle, deputy state secretary for foreign affairs, said in Paris on Thursday at an event celebrating the raising of diplomatic ties between the two countries to embassy level 50 years ago.
