As we all know, Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate with your significant other, perhaps a time to revisit memorable places and enjoy a romantic dinner. It has only been celebrated in Hungary since 1990 however, and the equivalent of Valentine here is the name Bálint, whose name day falls on 14 February.

The English language knowledge of Hungarians has improved recently, outdoing that of French, Italian and Spanish natives, international education company Education First (EF) has revealed, according to a report in Hungarian daily Magyar Nemzet.

The government has decided to set up a Roma educational and cultural centre in Budapest, the human resources ministry told MTI. The government is committed to nurturing Roma culture, one form of which is establishing a centre where the minority’s cultural traditions can be presented in a world-class environment, the ministry said in a statement.
