Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said shaming Hungary was “foolish”, noting that the country currently has the highest or second highest growth rate in the European Union. Speaking at a general assembly meeting of Mercedes parent company Daimler in Budapest, Orbán said Hungary had the fastest-declining unemployment rate in the EU and that it complied with all European financial regulations.

The heroes of the event will be the young people, Roma and non-Roma from privileged and less-privileged backgrounds, for whom the preparations have just started all over the country.

This year Budapest100 celebrates the Danube Waterfront. Many public and commercial buildings, as well as apartment buildings, will be open to the public on this weekend. Numerous displays, exhibitions and concerts will be held all along the ten-kilometre stretch of the Danube between Árpád híd and Rákóczi híd.
