The survey, conducted by market researcher GfK, covered more than 5,000 internet users over the age of 18 in five countries. Those buying presents online use several payment methods.

Police have launched a legal procedure against a shop assistant in central Budapest who used a homemade card reader to steal bank-card data as customers were paying for their purchases, the Budapest police force said. The 24-year-old man then used the data to make online purchases on 18 occasions in February and March this year, the BRFK said on its website.
