The city of Pécs will organise the first ever international Zsolnay Festival of Light between July 1 and 3, the organiser said on Thursday. A high Polish state award will be presented to the three Hungarian personalities who have composed a requiem to the victims of the Katyn massacre, the Polish embassy said. Ambassador Roman Kowalski will present the Polish Republic’s Order of Merit, Knight’s Cross, to composer László Király, poet Zoltán Polner and conductor-theatre director Sándor Gyudi at the embassy on Friday.

Nobel laureate author Imre Kertész died at age 86 after a long and serious illness, the publisher Magvető said. The novelist, essayist and translator was the first Hungarian to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, becoming a Nobel laureate in 2002.
