See What Happened @ 'Gift Of The Gab' Final
- 13 Mar 2014 2:00 AM
- entertainment
Over the years I have enjoyed many stand-up/cabaret nights by people who have gone on to bigger and greater things. What’s fab about Budapest's 'Gift Of The Gab' is that these are everyday people performing on stage. One in particular I met at a previous Irish Hungarian Business Circle trip to Göd orphanage. Quite frankly, I had no idea that this shy person was so expressive and outlandish in ...

"You either have it or you don’t", says local expat Mary Murphy, a woman who definitely has it, perhaps by virtue of her Irish roots. She presides over Budapest’s only English-language 'Speech Slam', which is going from strength to strength. ‘It’, of course, is that (quintessentially Irish) ability to talk to anyone, anywhere, about anything, aka the 'Gift Of The Gab'.

Love'n'go in Budapest last night was dance to remember, in a run-down former art cinema, the setting for this provocative performance, set-up by an intro speech (comical shout, due to the lack of a mic) by director Eva.
The show started by intriguing and engaging us, the audience became the dancers, and before we knew it many guests were laughing out loud, then almost crying, and were finally ...

Our purpose is to investigate whether or not this incomplete plea to God includes the key message: the fundamental ambitions, rights and dignity of the human individual. If our exhibits do reflect on this subject then we have certainly reached our purpose.
Guest Blog By British Chargé d’affaires Theresa Bubbear: Sziget – Day 3
- 10 Aug 2012 12:00 PM
- entertainment
Today I spent my third and final day at the Sziget Festival for this year. It was, unsurprisingly, a day of threes – third speech in Hungarian, policemen from three countries, three unexpected faces on Hungarian banknotes, and a meeting with three organisations. And Team GB remains third in the Olympic medals table. I am now passing the baton to three of the younger generation for the weekend.
