"The government will give preference to medical students in allocating funds to cover tuition fees, according to data released by Education state secretary Rózsa Hoffmann. Only 100 law students will be funded by the state in September, down from 800 last year, and 250 in economics, down from 4,900 last year.

"Of the 700 medical students graduating from universities this summer, 80% will start their residency in Hungary while 11% have opted to study for a doctorate, Hungarian Residents Association chairman Magor Papp said.
