Budapest taxi drivers demonstrated against ride-hailing service Uber. The government is acting to ban access to the Uber application and website and those of similar taxi service companies, Development Ministry state secretary János Fónagy announced on Friday. He said the cabinet approved a bill to that effect on Wednesday that will be filed in Parliament on Monday.

Taxi drivers demonstrating against car dispatcher Uber in central Budapest closed a section of Andrássy Avenue and Bajcsy Zsilinszky Road, on Monday. The protesters completely blocked traffic in both directions of the two major routes but reopened one lane in each direction after the Budapest police warned them that a complete blockade was illegal.
