A hunting shop in Hungary has bought thousands of rocket-propelled weapons from the Hungarian armed forces, the opposition PM party’s spokesman said. Bence Tordai cited defence ministry contracts showing that in 2013 and 2014 the company bought 1,357 air launched rockets, 83 nose guns and 52 airborne rockets from the Hungarian army for 7.5 million forints (EUR 24,000).

Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) on Monday said it fined Auchan Magyarország 1 billion forints (EUR 3.3m) for charging suppliers to stock their products in its inventory. GVH found that Auchan had unilaterally charged about three-quarters of its non-food suppliers the fee in 2006-2014.

South African-owned retail chain Pepco is to begin operations in Hungary, with stores opening soon in the cities of Budapest, Tatabánya, Veszprém, Siófok, Eger, Miskolc, Debrecen and Nyíregyháza. The Pepco brand has been present so far in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia – however, its owner, the Pepkor holding group, also has interests in Africa and Australia.
