MÁV Holocaust Trial To Go Ahead In US
"A Chicago court has set April 22 as the trial date for a lawsuit launched by American Jews against the Hungarian state railway company MÁV.

Heirs of the victims of the Holocaust and their close family members are suing MÁV for Ft 250 billion in damages, arguing that the company provided the carriages for transport-ing 437,000 Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz from March to October 1944 and for depriv-ing their victims of their assets.

MÁV has invited bids from 13 law firms in the US that have already proceeded in com-pensation cases. The winning bidder’s price tag must not exceed Ft 45 million.

Hungarian Jewish leaders earlier de-nounced the lawsuit as ill-considered."
