Shipping Halted On The Danube In Hungary
"The National Transport Authority has ordered a ban on shipping on the Hungarian stretch of the Danube from 10 p.m. Thursday night in view of the icy conditions.

Any ships on that section will be obliged to move to the next winter harbour.

Hungary’s biggest ice-breaker, the Széchenyi, left Győr on Thursday for Baja further south as the situation is the most dangerous there. Ice blockades could cause floods in the spring.

The Danube is completely frozen over in Austria, while restrictions on shipping have been announced for the Croat-Serb border and Slovakia."
