Fourth Metro Line In Budapest Structurally Ready
The fourth metro line is more or less structurally ready and only minor works are under way, mayor István Tarlós said on Wednesday as he opened an underground garage on Rákóczi tér in the Eighth District. He said the expected overall cost of the first section of the metro project will be Ft 452 billion, rather than the anticipated Ft 373 billion.

In an interview with Népszava Tarlós said the metro line should have been built at the expense of the Russian state debt.

In other remarks he said he expects the government to help the BKV this year, and to pass along all income from the local trade tax to Budapest next year so as to be able to finance public transport.
