Hungary’s Government To Boost Role In Tourism
The government will continue with its investment programme in tourism both in Budapest and the countryside, with the goal of ensuring that the sector makes an ever bigger contribution to Hungarian economic growth, a government spokesperson said.

Tourists are finding Hungary and Budapest ever more attractive destinations, Éva Kurucz told journalists at a news conference held together with Gergely Horváth, the deputy director of Magyar Turizmus Zrt.

She said a breakthrough had happened over the past year, when not only the number of incoming tourists rose but domestic tourism grew by 10%, which she said was a singular result in Europe.

This trend looks set to continue, she added. Horváth said that between 2020 and 2025 tourism could become the country’s biggest sector.
