Hungary’s Central Bank Raises 2014 Inflation To 0.1%
The central bank has raised its 2014 inflation forecast to 0.1% from zero in its previous report. The National Bank of Hungary left its 2015 projection unchanged at 2.5%, according to the main figures of its fresh quarterly Inflation Report.

The NBH upped its projection for 2014 economic growth sharply, to 3.3% from 2.9%, while lowering its forecast for 2015 GDP growth slightly, to 2.4% from 2.5%.

Meanwhile think-tank Kopint- Tárki reckons Hungary’s economy is expected to grow by 3.5% this year. The institute raised its forecast from 3% published in July. It expects the growth rate to soften to 2.7% in 2015 Kopint-Tárki said growth would slow in the second half of the year after reaching an annual 3.9% in the second quarter.

It projected a slowdown in fixed capital formation paired with a pickup in consumer spending.

The government’s official forecast for GDP growth this year is 3.1%. The institute projects average annual inflation of 0.1% in 2014 and 2.2% in 2015.
