Hungarian Water Polo Team's Easy Victory Over China Earns Semi-Final
The Hungarian water polo national team gained victory over China, yesterday in Fina’s World League Super Finals. The victory allows the Hungarian team to play in the semi-final against the national team of Montenegro, today.

Though the first goals were scored relatively late in the match, Hungarian lead and later victory was clear at yesterday’s match. The Hungarians showed a well-disciplined game style, and despite the many mistakes of the beginning they were able to perform in line with the expectations by the end. Hungary gained the final score of 13-5 against China.

The score suggests an easy match, however by the end feelings escalated. Due to the ongoing revolution of the sport, referees were instructed to make less interruptions of the gameflow by whistling. Playing against the tough Chinese team resulted in the escalation of body contact and wrestling which threatened the players with possible injuries.

“It indeed was a strange match. The Chinese are physically very strong and played a rough game. We made many mistakes at the beginnings but our energy invested in it paid off by the end. I was seriously worried about the health of my players by the end, especially in the case of centres… Tomorrow’s match is our first important one on the tournament, we are playing against Montenegro and we need to prepare for that” Hungary’s head coach Tibor Benedek said yesterday, following the match.
