"The National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH) has performed 3700 inspections and issues HUF 4.3 million in fines during the first phase of winter food monitoring activities. Inspections will continue until the end of December", announced State Secretary for Food Chain Supervision and Agricultural Economy of the Ministry of Rural Development Endre Kardeván on Monday in Budapest.

Kalocsa embroidery is featured on the Hungarian 80 ft stamp, while the HUF 130 stamp shows a string of peppers from Kalocsa and part of the exterior of the Paprika Museum in that town. The stamps in the sheet are arranged head to tail in a tête-bêche format. The design of the stamp and border of the numbered block has artefacts of 'ecclesiastical art' from Kalocsa.

"Retail fuel prices hit an all-time high last week after MOL announced that it would raise petrol prices by Ft 8 per litre and those of diesel by Ft 6. The average price of a litre of unleaded 95-octane petrol is around Ft 354, while the price of diesel topped Ft 340 per litre. These prices stood at Ft 298 and Ft 276, respectively, one year ago.
