As a result of recent work progress, BKK Centre for Budapest Transport, being in charge of the introduction of the automated fare-collection (AFC) scheme, and German supplier Scheidt & Bachmann jointly approved the updated project schedule for system introduction which includes the testing of an access gate to be installed at one of the metro stations by 31 July 2017.

Central Budapest’s Nyugati pályaudvar railway station has reopened after a two-week maintenance period in the early hours of Monday, meaning that passenger trains are again serving the station according to regular schedules. Most of the station has been opened to passengers, although there are still obstacles to pedestrian traffic on the building’s side towards the WestEnd shopping mall.

From February on, the new county e-stickers will be valid until the first exit in the neighbouring county, saving drivers from having to pay the toll for both counties, state secretary János Fónagy announced. He also spoke about other changes as the government searching for ways to fine-tune the new county-based road toll system, introduced at the start of this year.
Road Toll System In Hungary To Be Amended At Several Points

While reinforcing the theoretical foundation of the system, the government decided to make several changes in relation with the road toll system. According to the announcement made by János Fónagy, county vignettes will be valid up to the first exit ramp after a county border instead of the last one before the border as of 1 February, 2015, and there will be several new toll-free sections as well.

From 1 January 2015 only the following road sections can be used toll free in Budapest, Hungary:
* the entire length of the M31 motorway
* the following sections of the M0 highway:
- the section between Main Route 1 and the M5 motorway
- The section between M4 highway (Main Route 4) and M3
- Megyeri Bridge (the section between Main Route 11 and Main Route 2)
* the entire length of the M31 motorway
